Daniel Groves

Trial Attorney
  • Profile

Dan Groves has worked as a plaintiff’s attorney at Bashore Green Law Group since March of 2019. In this capacity, he uses his depth of experience to handle not just personal injury and auto accident cases, but litigation, family law, criminal defense, commercial insurance defense, and commercial breaches of contract. He came to the firm because he has known partners Lionel Bashore and Kevin Green for many years and wanted the opportunity to join the team.

Dan strongly believes that many people have rights that sometimes are not provided to them. Because of this, he has defended clients who have been issued driving citations, business owners who have been harmed because their liability insurance carrier refuses to uphold an insurance contract, and even innocent victims who have been brutally injured and harmed due to criminal activity.

Before practicing as a civil law attorney, Dan spent nearly two years with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office in the juvenile justice division, elderly abuse & embezzlement, and with the county’s arson unit. He then spent several years at the Lobb Law Firm as a plaintiff’s attorney before expanding his legal experience and working on the defense side at Ward, Anderson, Porritt, and Bryant Law Firm in Bloomfield Hills. There he defended insurance companies being sued for payments in wrongful death lawsuits.

Simply put, Dan can handle any criminal and civil case. He previously practiced family law but no longer as interested in being involved in divorce litigation, calling it one of the most stressful times in his professional life. He is an aggressive litigator, but is also very personable, open, communicative, and has a lively sense of humor.

Dan is a proud graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy and Cooley Law School. Prior to obtaining his degrees, Dan served six years in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded an Honorable Discharge.

Believing that our future’s most important asset is our children, Dan has spent part of his career as a volunteer for the Wayne County Court Appointed Special Advocate’s Program (CASA) for displaced children, foster kids, and on behalf of abused & neglected children. He has been a Red Cross blood donor for over three decades. He also has regularly spoken to high school and college students regarding the benefits of a career in law.

Dan has discovered that many Bashore Green Law Group clients don’t understand how much of an impact paying lower rates have on the level of auto insurance coverage they are subject to and that their own insurance is critical even if the other driver is at fault given Michigan’s No-Fault status. When working with clients, he tries to provide them with guidance and insights in case they, or someone close to them, were to be involved in a serious car, truck, or motorcycle accident in the future.

Away from work Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and adores his 2-year-old son and older children. He and his wife enjoy traveling around the world, where he can engage in his hobby of photography. Dan also likes to play chess, research family genealogy, and admits to a “dangerous” love of eating, from BBQ ribs and pasta to pizza to ice cream and cake.
